
Mangalore, March 3: In a shocking development, a Mangalore University student and his father were arrested by sleuths of Anti-Naxal Force on charges of having links with Naxalites.
Vittala, a first year student of Mass Communication and Journalism and his father Linganna were taken to Venur Police Station on Saturday for inquiry after detaining them at their home at Kuthlur near Naravi in Belthangady taluk. It is learnt that police filed FIR against them in the evening.
The arrests have sent shock waves in entire Malekudiya community in the isolated village as Vittala was the only one among them who had entered into post graduation course.
Sources, close to the arrested duo said that Vittala had come home this morning from his hostel in Mangalore, after some of his relatives informed him that his father was 'beaten' by ANF. When he reached home, the ANF sleuths, who had already surrounded the area, took him to their custody. His father too had been arrested by the sleuths in the morning, sources said.
