
Mangalore, March 4: With the arrest of two youths suspected to be working for fugitive don Vishwanath koraga Shetty, Mangalore police have foiled a kidnap bid on a city based entrepreneur.
The arrested have been identified as Manoj Shetty (34) of Alake and Deepak G Rao (27) of Police Lane. Sources said, the accused hatched a plan to kidnap one Jayson Nazareth of Permude Cross who had returned from abroad carrying money to the tune of Rs 6 crore.
The youths, believed to be working on the directions of underworld don Vishwanath Koraga Shetty, attempted to tail Jayson at Permude on Thursday.
However, on Saturday, Bajpe police were tipped-off about the kidnap conspiracy and arrested them.
Deepak G Rao, is said to be the son of Gangadhar Rao, a police sub-inspector attached to District Armed Reserve (DAR) police.
The youths when produces before the court were remanded to judicial custody until March 17, Sourced said.
