Mangalore, March 6: With the Bharatiya Janata Party poised for a win in Goa and the SAD-BJP alliance leading in Punjab, the party workers in the city on Tuesday celebrated victory.
A small group of BJP workers gathered in front of the BJP headquarters near PVS Circle and burst crackers and shouted slogans of victory. They also distributed sweets to each other and enjoyed the moment.
"We have won Punjab, we are winning Goa, we are nearing the majority in Uttarakhand also," the enthusiastic BJP workers shouted.
DK District BJP president Padmanabh Kottari speaking on the occasion said that results of Assembly polls in five states show that people have frustrated over the scandals of Congress led union government. “We are sure that NDA will once again emerge victorious in next Assembly polls”, he said. BJP leader Shrikhar Prabhu was also present.
In Punjab, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP combine appears poised for victory. In Goa too it is leading. In Uttarakhand, it is running neck-and-neck with the Congress, while in Uttar Pradesh it is positioned behind the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party.
