Mangalore, March 8: On the occasion of International women's day the St Agnes College, Mangalore, in collaboration with Women's Cell, Women's Study Centre and Human Rights Education Cell, organized a one day workshop on 'Status of women in India, Women's issues – Inspiring future'.
Dr Sr Prem D Souza, Principal, St Agnes College, Dr Kripa Alva, Ex- president of Lioness club, Ms Sharon Rego, Staff co-ordinator ,Women's Study Centre and Ms Agneita Aiman- Staff co-ordinator, women's cell were the dignitaries present at the inaugural function.
Dr Kripa Alva spoke to the young students and said, “Today, we are looking at a developed nation. Women are roped in to spearhead the economic growth. But the status of women is changing and whenever there is change there is a problem of adaptability. But one should bear in mind that women sometimes can become an enemy of herself like in the case of a mother- in-law.”
She said women should not encourage an attitude of competing with men, especially in habits like smoking and drinking. Good and bad are relative terms and you must decide what is good for you. Women can see a better tomorrow, she added.
Dr Sr Prem D Souza said, “One gets back what they give to others. If you give bundle of generosity, you get bundle of generosity.”
She also said that women more precious than jewellery. Teaching of kindness is on her tongue. We have to feel great to be women and for the feminine nature that we are blessed with, she added.
