Mangalore, March 9: Football refereeing as a profession has great scope and youngsters must be encouraged to take it up, said Ranganath, National Football Referee Instructor.
He was speaking after inaugurating an exam for Football Refereeing in the city organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Football Association on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ranganath said that in countries such as the US, children and youth are encouraged to take up football refereeing with great interest and the same should be done in India.
Vijaya Suvarna, Governing Board member of Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) appealed to the participants to provide their services to the DK District Football Association after passing the refereeing test and not sit idle.
Inayatullah Khan, Former National football player, Anil PV, Treasurer, DK District Football Association, PA Rahman, Former National football player were present.
Husain Bolar, Secretary, DK District Football Association compered the programme.
