Udupi, March 14: “DV Sadananda Gowda, as the chief Minister, took the reigns of the state recently. We will give him a long rope and if he goes out of the way we will not hesitate to go against him”, said former CM and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy.
He was replying to media persons query on Wednesday on his soft corner towards DVS.
Mr Kumaraswamy said JD(S) as the responsible opposition party did not oppose former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in the begining. “As long as he was doing a sincere job we did not oppose. But when he started looting the wealth of the state in the name of development we intervened. We took up the struggle against all his scams and scandals. It was the responsibility of an opposition party. We did it; whereas Congress failed in that too”, he said.
He also added that if Yeddyurappa, agreeing to their conditions, had not assigned the mining portfolio's to BJP ministers, he would not have faced this pathetic situation.
He said that the ongoing bi-election would be a platform for the JD(S) to face the next general elections and added that this byelection you can expect a surprise result.
Madhu Bangarappa, UR Sabhapathi, Deviprasad Shetty and others were present.
