Mangalore, March 16: Women's Grievance Redressal Committee should not lie down. Instead it should be active throughout, said Zilla Panchayath Chief Executive Officer Dr K N Vijayaprakash.
He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop of harassement on women at work place, organized at Netravathi Hall in Zilla Panchayath on Thursday.
“If no complaints have been registered in four years, we should not be under the impression that there is no harassment of women, rather we should understand that no women come forward to file a complaint”, he said.
For women who work in an organization and earn their livelihood and build a social status it is important to have a safe working atmosphere, he said.
Presiding over the function ZP President K T Shailaja Bhat said that all women including those who work in various setups should be aware of the possibilities of harassment of women in the organizations. Harassment of school students is on the raise and it is important for women to develop strength and courage to oppose such harassments, said the president.
Professor from Roshini Nilaya Vinitha Rai, advocate P P Hegde amd Dr Merlyn Martis from DEEDS were the resource persons.
