Bantwal, March 17: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old boy was allegedly beaten up by his teacher with a cable wire in Ajjibettu Government High School.
Abdul Nasir, the 8th standard student reportedly fell sick after being attacked by the Kannada teacher Achutha Bhat. The beating has left his hand and back swollen.
During his class on Thursday afternoon, the teacher had asked questions related to the lessons. Those who could not reply were hit with the cable wire. Although none of his calls mates were injured, Nasir suffered swellings on his hand and back and developed fever.
With the annual examination commencing on Monday, the parents of Nasir are worried about him getting back to health to write exams. Meanwhile, K. Sudhakar, the Block Education Officer, visited Nasir's house to inquire about his health. He has also assured the parents that he would take precaution to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
The BEO has apparently taken the accused teacher into task and issued stern warning. Complaints of abuse by the Kannada teacher had been raised earlier also. It is also said that several children had left the school unable to bear with the teacher's “style of teaching”.
