Ullal, April 14: Two youths from Mangalore have died at a fishing harbor in Rathnagiri of Maharashtra when they fell into a fish tank on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Shakir (22), a resident of Margathale, near Alekal in Ullal, and Nawaz (25), a resident of Adyar Padavu.
Two others, Rashid, from Kuttar, and Ravuf from Malar, also sustained severe injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ratnagiri.
The accident happened when the four persons were unloading fish from the tank. Even as they were bsuy with their work, a heap of fish fell on them from the other side. All the four got buried in the heap of fish. Rashid, to whom the tank belonged, and Ravuf were rescued by other fish traders, but Shakir and Nawaz died due to asphyxiation.
Among the deceased, Shakir is a bachelor while Nawaz is married and has a child. The bodies were brought to Mangalore and burial took place in the evening.
