Mangalore, April 27: The district unit of Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike has condemned the act of smearing of cow dung on Lecturer-activist Pattabhirama Somayaji's face by a miscreant as an attack on progressive thinking and constitutional values of the country.
Addressing media persons at a press meet on Friday, Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, President, Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike, DK, said that the perpetrators behind the act chose to take law in their hands instead of adopting other democratic ways.
“The act was an uncivilized one by fascist forces who were miffed with Mr.Pattabhi for his views on cow slaughter. But their hypocrisy over their love for the holy cow has been exposed time and again” Mr. Bakrabail said.
He said that an appeal had been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police to take action against the ones behind the act and ban such organisations.
P B D'Sa, activist, said that apart from catching the miscreant who smeared dung on Mr. Pattabhi's face, the real perptrators who planned the assault and who direct such activities must also be nabbed.
“The perpetrators have no guts to discuss the matter face to face. They committed the act and ran away. The real perpetrators should be held. Their groups are always operating in Pumpwell and Attavar areas. The police knows who are involved but doesn't have the guts to take action against them. They are a part of the communal mafia. Their assurances are mere lip services”, Mr. D'Sa said.
