Four killed, over 30 injured in bus-tempo collision

Bhatkal, April 27: At least four persons were killed on the spot and over 30 others were seriously injured when a private bus rammed into a tempo trax at Bhatkal cross on Friday night.

Sources said that the VRL bus on its way to Gulbarga from Mangalore rammed into the trax on its way to Dhrarmasthala on Bhatkal bypass around 8:30 pm.

The deceased include a child, a woman and two men, confirmed local police. They were among the the 18 passengers on board trax.

Many among the 42 passengers in the bus also got injured when bus fell into a ditch after the accident.

Police said negligent driving by the bus driver and the wet conditions, due to heavy downpour, caused the accident.

Critically injured have been shifted to Manipal and the other injured are being treated at murudeshwar and Bhatkal.
