Udupi, May 12: The Catholic Sthree Sanghatan or Catholic Women's Organisation of Udupi district, was launched by Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Aloysius Paul D'Souza on Friday.
The Sanghatan, which has 1,200 members, aims at working for the welfare of women coming under 47 churches in the five deaneries of Mangalore Diocese.
District President of the Sanghatan Leena Roche welcomed the gathering.
Vice-President Cynthia Dias proposed a vote of thanks. Episcopal Vicar of Udupi district Very Rev. Baptist Menzes, Director of the Organization Ronald Cutinho, Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church Frederick Mascarenhas, President of District Women's Congress Veronica Cornelio, President of Catholic Co-operative Society Valerian Menezes, vice-president of the Sanghatan Irene Pereira and editor of the newsletter of the Sanghatan Lidwin Pinto, were present.
