Mangalore, May 12: Team Mangalore, a city-based hobby group of kite flyers, have returned home after conquering the skies in Italy.
As representatives of India, the four-member team successfully showcased cultural heritage of India to the Italians at 32nd Art Evento International Kite Festival held at Cervia, Italy, from April 21 to May 2.
This is one of the most prestigious kite festivals in the world and is organised by Claudio Capelli, renowned Italian artist.
The festival was organised by Mr. Claudio Capelli and Ms.Caterina Capelli, renowned artists from Italy.
In the festival the Team Mangalore showcased some of its best kites depicting Indian folk art to Italians, stated a press release issued here.
The event had attracted participants from over 38 countries. Many flyers of international fame around the world showcased their collection of kites.
Sarvesh Rao, Nitin Shetty, Prashanth Upadhyaya and Dinesh Holla were the four members of Team Mangalore, who participated in this mega event. This unique event was blend of kites and art where many artists showcased their talent too.
'Special Guest of Honour'
Mr.Prashanth Upadhyaya entertained the gathering by Yakshagana performance. The Italians were fascinated by the costume and appreciated the performance.
Mr.Dinesh Holla conducted live demonstration of art kites and also exhibited his line art work. People gathered appreciated the line art demonstration. In all, Team Mangalore added more colours to this unique festival by its all round performance in kite flying, cultural talent and art work demonstration.
Earlier, Team Mangalore had participated in various international kite festivals held at Canada, UK, France, Thailand, Korea, Sri Lanka, Dubai and recently it had participated in the international kite festival held at Korea.
