Mangalore, May 13: Young Dalit entrepreneurs must be aware of the subsidies being given by the government so that they can prosper in their industrial endeavours said S G Hegde, Joint Director, District Industrial Centre, Mangalore.
He was speaking at a seminar on “Coastal Dalits Towards Becoming Successful Industrialists and Entrepreneurs” organized by Ambedkar Memorial Foundation in the city on Sunday.
Stating that 35% subsidy would be given by the government to start an industry under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Mr. Hegde said that young Dalit entrepreneurs must be aware of the project that is likely to be back in force in September-October later this year.
He also said that subsidies are there for the taking under rainwater harvesting projects and micro industries as well.
Mohanangayya Swami, President, SC/ST Research and Development Trust, Mangalore, Raghunath Ullal, Health Officer, MCC, Bhavani, Vice President, Ullal Town Municipal Council, were among those present.
