Mangalore, May 13: The case of a two wheeler rider going missing after having reportedly fallen into the Phalguni river has got more mysterious.
Police are suspecting that Swati, wife of the missing Ganeshpura resident Srinivas Padakannaya, has not furnished accurate details while filing the case and is hiding the truth.
To begin with, the police are perplexed over the very fact as to why Mr. Srinivas opted to take the route that early in the morning. They are also wondering as to how come he fell into the river on the right side when there was enough space for his vehicle to move on the road at the left.
As per the details given by Ms. Swati in her complaint, a tipper was approaching from ahead which made Ms. Srinivas move towards right. The police find this fishy and are also wondering as to why no one approached to help Ms. Srinivas including the tipper driver. As MSEZ works are in progress in the region, a number of vehicles pass from the area.
Besides, no damage has occurred to both Ms. Swati as well as the vehicle. Police had found Ms. Swati's explanations fishy but the initial situation demanded that they get involved in launching the search operation of Srinivas. In spite of help from Coast Guard personnel and local swimmers, Mr. Srinivas' body has not been found.
City's Crime Branch officers have begun inquiring about the family backgrounds of both Ms. Swati and Mr. Srinivas. It is also learnt that Swati's direct questioning will also be held. Police are expecting that Ms. Swati will reveal the truth behind the missing of her husband soon.
