Mangalore, May 23: The pass percentage in the Pre-University Examinations in Karnataka this year has grown up by about nine per cent with 57.3 percent of the students emerging with success.
Announcing the results in Bangalore on Wednesday Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said that Dakshina Kannada district has recorded highest pass percentage of 85. 70. Udupi has bagged second place with a pass percentage of 85.32.
Girls, as usual, have fared better when compared to boys, with 74.30 per cent of them passing out as against 57.3 per cent of the boys, he revealed.
Out of around six lakh students, who had taken the Second PUC Examinations this year, 3, 39, 421 students have emerged success. As many as 19, 267 students scored distinction and 1,54,296 students scored first class.
In all, 27 colleges in the state have recorded zero result.
