Manipal, May 26: The Manipal Arogya Card Scheme 2012 was launched by Udupi-Chikmagalur MP K. Jayaprakash Hegde by handing over the first card to Raghuram Kulal and his family here on Friday.
Pro Chancellor of Manipal University H.S. Ballal said the Manipal University had instituted the Arogya Card 2012 as part of its social initiative to provide quality healthcare at affordable cost to a large section of society. The Arogya Card enabled a member to avail benefits by way of discounts on in-patient and outpatient treatment in various networked hospitals under Manipal Health Enterprises.
The membership drive for the card launched on Friday would conclude on July 25. Chancellor of Manipal University Ramdas Pai gave away the Dr. T.M.A. Pai Arogya Sevak Award for the best performing agents — A.N. Vijendra Rao and Kenchana Gowda. Mr. Rao enrolled 9,000 members, while Mr. Gowda enrolled 5,000 members during the Manipal Arogya Card Scheme 2011.
