Mangalore, May 30: Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat on Wednesday staged formed a human chain near Karnataka Polytechnic College here blocking the traffic for few minutes.
The demonstration was part of ABVP's state wide protest demanding that Karnataka Examinations Authority hold admission process to first year diploma students in nodal centres of all districts in Karnataka.
The protesters, who blocked the traffic, criticised State government for authorizing KEA to hold the admission process for both technical and non-technical diploma courses for academic year 2012-13 through a centralised counselling process.
Speaking on the occasion ABPV Mangalore City Unit President Chinmay Rai said that many poor students might be deprived of seats in polytechnic colleges across the state due to centralising the entrance procedure.
He said that counselling process in district centres would benefit rural students across the State. If it was confined to Bangalore, students from economically backward section would suffer, he added.
