Mangalore, June 18: Officials of Mangalore City Corporation conducted a surprise raid at the prominent malls in Mangalore on Monday to check if shops in the mall had been functioning without trade licenses.
About 15 officials of the MCC conducted the raid. Shops in City Centre and Singapore City malls were asked to produce their trade licenses.
About 15 shops were found to be functioning without licenses which were closed down by the MCC officials.
The concerned shops have to apply for license and a penalty to the tune of 25% of the fee supposed to be paid for obtaining the license will be charged, an MCC official told Coastaldigest.com.
The raid was conducted to create awareness among shop owners in the city. It has helped in that direction and quite a few shop owners have approached the Corporation following the raid to apply for licenses, the official said.
