Kasargod, June 24: Amidst the reports of fresh cases of monsoon-related epidemics, two cases of bird flu (H1N1) have been reported in the district.
One of the cases was reported from Bevinja in the district, said E. Raghavan, District Medical Officer (DMO).
The second case was of a youth, who was tested positive for symptoms similar to the fever, he said.
The two affected persons were shifted to special wards for providing expert treatment, sources here said.
The General Hospital here on Saturday had reported 20 patients with fever while 24 people had visited the hospital with fever symptoms on the previous day, a senior doctor at the hospital said, adding none of the cases was found to be of serious nature.
Two persons with symptoms of jaundice were admitted to the General Hospital, where a sizeable number of fever patients had been admitted over the last few days, sources said.
The administration was engaged in recruiting doctors on contract to fill the vacancies at various government hospitals in the district, while people were urged to take steps to contain the breeding of mosquitoes during monsoon, the DMO said.
