Mangalore, June 25: Another incident where a Church property has been tampered with in Mangalore, surfaced on Monday at Holy Hill near Pumpwell in the city.
The lighting on the Cross atop the Servants of Lord prayer hall at Holy Hill was found to be tampered with, besides broken flower pots. The lamp at the site of the Cross has also been damaged.
“Like always, I had closed the main gate at 7:15 pm yesterday. When we opened the gate in the morning at 6:10 am today, we found that some damages had been made to the property of the prayer hall”, said Melwyn D'Silva, a staff working at the place.
“The main gate for the prayer hall is closed in the evening to avoid people coming atop the hill and treating the place like a hangout spot. It has been the practice for years. No one is allowed to enter the premises after dark. But during day time, even people from other faiths visit the premises” said K S Chacko, a devotee.
Mangalore Rural police are investigating the matter.
