NRI's wife strangled to death by miscreants in Udupi

Udupi, June 25: In a brutal crime, a middle aged housewife was strangled to death by the miscreants, who tightening a choodidar shawl around her neck, at Gundyam, in Kemmannu village here on Monday.

The deceased is Shakunthala (40), wife of Ashok Poojary, a nonresident Indian. The couple has two daughters studying in SSLC and PUC.

They had had shifted to Gundyam from Badanidiyoor recently. The house warming ceremony of their newly built house was held in April. A few days later, Ashok had returned to his work abroad.

When the two daughters returned from the college Monday evening, found their mother lying on the floor of the bed room dead.

The neighbours immediately reported the incident police, who rushed to the spot and conducted a spot survey before sending body for postmortem.

According to neighbours the victim had drawn some money from the bank in the morning.

A case has been registered at Malpe police station.
