Mangalore, June 26: The resignation of Suresh Kumar, State Law Minister and a subsequent clean chit being given to him was all a 'drama', B Janardhana Poojary, Senior Congress leader has said.

Speaking to media persons in Mangalore on Tuesday, Mr. Poojary said that Chief Minister D V Sadanada Gowda through a wicked plan has rescued Mr. Kumar who had tendered his resignation on Saturday after media reports quoting an RTI applicant said he had made a false claim in an affidavit to get a Bangalore Development Authority site under "G" category (under the Chief Minister's discretionary quota).

Asking the Advocate General to submit a report on the Law Minister is like asking a worker to look into the accusations against his boss. The Advocate General has prepared the report as per the directions of Mr. Kumar. The Advocate General's job is confined to giving suggestions to the Government and not making reports on allegations. If an Advocate General's report is the criterion to give clean chits, all other scandals could have been handled similarly, Mr. Poojary quipped.

A judicial enquiry could have been conducted to look into the allegations against Mr. Kumar, the Congress leader said.
