The first accident was reported from Pangala village on National Highway 66 where more than 15 passengers suffered injuries in a head on collision between a private bus and a tanker.
The accident resulted in traffic jam on highway an hour as it took nearly half an hour to remove the damaged heavy vehicles from the road.
Eye witnesses said that both the vehicles were travelling at a high speed. While negotiating a curve near Pangala junction, where work is under progress, the tanker driver lost over his vehicle, and rammed into an oncoming express bus plying from Mangalore to Udupi.
Drivers of both the vehicles have been injured in the accident.
In a separate accident the driver and passengers of an auto rickshaw were critically injured when a speeding private bus rammed into their vehicle at Mathada Kere near Kanthavara Cross in Karkala taluk.
The injured have been admitted to various hospitals.
