The meeting resolved to urge the government to increase ZP members honorarium to Rs 5,000 and to take a delegation to the CM to press for the same.
Raising the issue ZP member Manjunath Poojary said that as the prices of all commodities and traveling expenses have gone up many fold a honorarium of just Rs 1,000 was very merger.
Responding to his demand ZP President Katapady Shankar Poojary said, "when the honorarium of MLAs goes up from Rs 10,000 to 40,000, ZP members' honorarium must be increased to atleast Rs 10,000. Thereby government should upheld the honor of the honorarium''. He also urged the MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, representing the members of Panchayath Raj bodies, to get their demands met.
In his reply Srinivas Poojary advised the members to come to Bangalore in a delegation, when the assembly session is on and put forward their demand before the CM. He also assured to be a part of the delegation. ``As CM is also the head of the Finance Department, he shall address the demand'', Poojary added.
Another member Mamatha Shetty brought to the notice of the ZP, the threat of huge boulders stored beside the canal, at Varahi Irrigation Project, being rolled down. Ananth Movadi said that as the 'well known' contractors involved in the construction of the project, political higher ups might suppress the issue.
