Mangalore, July 2: Jail inmates presented an impressive play performance before the city's audience at Town Hall in Mangalore on Monday.
The programme was organized by Sankalpa, Mysore, in association with Karnataka Prison Department, Bangalore.
Speaking at the formal inauguration programme Pratap Reddy, IGP (Western Range), appreciated the move of Sankalpa, Mysore and the Prison Department to hold such a programme.
Abhishek Goel, SP, Dakshina Kannada district, said that every individual possesses some talent or the other. The jail inmates who are performing in the programme have realized that they possess acting talents and this should help them mend their ways and work their way forward with their talent in the future, he said.
Seemanth Kumar Singh, Police Commissioner, Mangalore, P S Ambekar, Superintendent, District Jail, Mangalore, Halugappa Kattimani, Theatre artist, Ronald Colaco, businessman, and others were present.
The prisoners presented the Kannada version of the Shakespearean play 'King Lear' after the formal inauguration. On Tuesday, they will perform 'Kattale Daari' followed by 'Shivarathri' and 'Gokarnada Goudashaani' plays on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
