Mangalore, July 3: Two innocent youth have been taken into custody by the police in connection with Kalladka violence, their family members have alleged.
Speaking to Coastaldigest.com, Ibrahim of Madakka near Kalladka said that his son Mohammed Naushad and his cousin Ashiq, both final year BBM students, have been taken into custody by police although they have nothing to do with the violence that took place in Kalladka on Saturday over a cow transportation issue.
“Both of them are students of Rosario College in Mangalore. They had finished their tuitions and returning home via an auto rickshaw at about 9:30 pm that night. The police who had spread across the region after tensions gripped Kalladka that evening, stopped them and took them into custody. They are now in Udupi jail”, Mr. Ibrahim says.
The students had been waiting for a bus but in spite of waiting for long, they could not find one and hence took a rickshaw to come home. They are innocent and have nothing to do with the violence, says K P Abdullah, a neighbour.
Mr. Ibrahim said that he has approached the college authorities and the Principal has extended his cooperation. Their identity cards have been submitted to the police authorities and hopefully, they will be released soon, Mr. Ibrahim told Coastaldigest.com.
