Mangalore, July 5: Tulunad Kesarugadde Kreedotsava Samiti, Mangalore, will be organising “Kesarugadde Kreedotsava” (sports on slushy field) on July 7 and 8 near Subramanya Swami Temple at Pavanje in Haleyangadi.
The event will be inaugurated on July 7 at 9 p.m.
Advocate and working president of the samiti P.P. Hegde said in a statement issued here on Wednesday that competitions such as tug-of-war, ball game, sprinting, and three-legged race will be held for schoolchildren on the first day and for the general public on the second day.
For the first time, Tulu “Pad-dana” (sung narratives) competition would be held as they (folk songs) were an integral part of agriculture in Tulunad, he said.
An essay-writing competition would be held for schoolchildren on topics such as “Nela-Jala” (land and water) and “Importance of rural sports”.
Entries should reach the office before the date of the event. Schoolchildren participating in the event will be given travel aid. Traditional food will be served.
