Udupi, July 6: 'Shaalegagi Naavu Neevu' campaign was right moment for the teachers who draw their salaries in the name of education to introspect. “Unless the teachers willfully contribute to the education, any campaign will turn futile”, said Chief Executive Officer of Udupi Zilla Panchayath Prabhakar Sharma.
He was speaking after inaugurating `Shaalegagi Naavu Neevu' programme at Government Higher Primary School, Padubidri, here on Thursday.
As part of the `Shaalegagi Naavu Neevu' programme students of Government Higher Primary School, Padubidri, took out a jaatha in the Padubibri town.
ZP President Katapady Shankar Poojary called upon the Head Teachers to take the responsibility of protecting the school land and property with the support of the community. The ZP has released Rs 12 lakh for constructing compound walls to 8 government schools in the district. Rs 2.5 lakh each has also been release for the development of another seven schools, he said adding the ZP has prepared an action plan for spending Rs 22 crores on education during the current financial year.
Padubidri grama panchayath President Vijayalaxmi presided over the function. ZP member Geethanjali Suvarna, DDPI Nagendra Madhyastha, Head Mistress Sarojini and others were present.
