Mangalore, July 14: The health officials of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) raided several hotels in city on Friday to expose irregularities and unhygienic conditions.
Four hotels and three Paying Guests accommodations were raided in Hampankatta and M G Road respectively.
Environment Engineer Madhu said that Shanthi Sagar hotel has been asked to close down temporarily and renovate the kitchen within seven days.
The owner was asked to pay a fine of Rs 5,000. “The kitchen in the hotel was in unhygienic condition and was not in a good condition to cook food,” he said.
There was lack of cleanliness in Hotel Sagar and the owner was asked to pay a fine of Rs 2,000. The MCC officials issued a notice to the Hotel Suvarna in Hampankatta, to rectify the problems related to drainage. The drains from the hotel was open.
The owner was asked to rectify the problem within seven days. The officials also raided three PG accommodations and the MCC inspectors did not find any negligence on the managements' part. The PG accommodations had maintained cleanliness.
The raid was carried out under the direction of MCC Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar.
