Uppinangady, July 16: Alok Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Anti Naxal Force) confirmed that Naxals had visited to a house in Holegandi near Shishila.
Speaking to mediapersons after visiting a house at Holegandi wherein the Naxals had visited on Friday night, he said that the ANF will continue the combing operation inside the forest.
He also confirmed that the Naxal team had taken away rice and other grocery items from a house. There are all possibilities that the Naxals would have made forest in this part of the region as their hiding ground.
The ANF team led by the IGP visited the route from Miyar to Holegundi inside the forest. The distance between Miyar and Holegundi is two kilometres.
The IGP also visited the house of Aravinda in Ammudange Mucchiradka who encountered a team of Naxals on July 10.
He said that the Naxals are trying to mislead the villagers by visiting their houses. Naxals should stop visiting the villages and the villagers should not support them.
“Naxals are functioning in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga and Chikmagalur districts.
However, it would be difficult to tell that they are residing in one particular village. As the ANF carries out combing operation, they change their hide outs. We are making all efforts to contain Naxals in the region,” he said.
ANF SP Vasudevamurthy, Inspector Prasanna Kumar and Puttur ASP Anucheth were present.
