Mangalore, July 20: A 22-year-old man was found murdered near railway track at Kodikere near Jokatte on the outskirts of the city early on Friday morning.
Police identified the deceased as Shivaraj, a resident of Thokur, who was working as a mechanic at Bharat car showroom at Kuntikan in the city.
Police are of the suspicion that some miscreants might have strangled him to death using a rope in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Sources said that the injury marks were found around the neck and other parts of the dead body. After conducting spot investigation police shifted the body to the Government Wenlock Hospital for post-mortem.
It is learnt that some unidentified men who came in a Maruti Omni at around 10:30 pm on Thursday took Shivaraj along with them from the showroom saying that they wanted him to repair a vehicle.
On Friday morning at around 10:00 am a member of Jokatte Gram Panchayat noticed Shivarj's body lying near the track and immediately informed the police.
A case has been registered at Panambur police station.
