The J P Nagar police said Manjunath (22) was attacked by an armed gang of four while he was standing outside his house after dinner on Friday night. Manjunath, a cab driver involved in a murder attempt at Jaraganahalli in 2009, had been on bail since the last one month.
A police source said he had been questioned by the MICO Layout police during the Divya murder investigation. He was in the same gang that the murder accused belonged to, and was in constant touch with them when the police was trailing the suspects.
Though he was let off after questioning, the family of the one of the accused suspected that he passed on information to the police, the police said.
“We cannot confirm at this stage whether the accused in murder of Divya are involved in the murder of Manjunath also. But he was a friend of one of the four accused in her murder,” a top official said.
It can be recalled here that 23-year-old Divya, an employee of a private company in the city was stabbed to death by an unidentified man as she was walking home from work in BTM Layout 2nd Stage, here on May 28.
