Manipal, July 23: Karnataka State Cricket Association has decided to set up Cricket Academies in five cricketing zones of the state, for the continuous cricket related activities. One each has already been launched in Mysore and Bangalore. The Mangalore Cricket Academy would be launched soon, said Director of KSCA Syed Mohammed Kirmani.
He was speaking after inducting the office bearers of the newly registered Udupi District Cricket Association, at Manipal on Sunday. Kirmani said that the KSCA would also hold asmany as 33 cricket summer camps in 23 districts during the current cricket year.
Chief guest of the programme and Administrative Officer of BCCI Prof Rathnakar Shetty in his address lauded Manipal University for creating a wonderful infrastructure for cricket.
“Create good atmosphere for the development of cricket. Do not bother about your right in the KSCA; that will follow on its own”, he said.
Calling upon the coaches not to teach anything wrong in cricket, Shetty said whatever the budding cricketers learn up to the age 12, they take it along their cricket life.
Chancellor of Manipal University Dr Ramdas M Pai, Honorary President of the UDCA Dr HS Ballal, President Dr Krishnaprasad, Secretary Prabhakar Shetty, DKDCA President Dr Srkanth Rai and others were present.
