Mangalore, July 24: The D.K. District Ex-Servicemen's Association has oganised a memorial function on July 26 to mark the 13th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in Kargil.
The member of the association as well as public will gather at the War Memorial, Kadri Hills, Managlore at 1930 hrs to pay homage to the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in the true tradition of Indian Armed Forces.
N.S. Bhandary, president of the Association, during a press meet in Mangalore on Monday, urged every Mangalorean to light a candle and place a marigold flower next to it at the War Memorial.
On July 26, 1999 Inida's Armed Forces drove out Pakistan Army intruders from unauthorized occupation of Indian territory of Kargil, Drass, Tololing, Batalik and Turtok sectors in Kashmir, he added.
The war was an example of great courage, valour, comradeship, sacrifces and leadership on the part of Indian Armed Forces, that this near impossible task was achieved with great finesse, Col. (retired) Bhandary said.
