Riyadh, July 25: In a gut-wrenching tragedy, an India expatriate worker died after a car in which he was travelling along with his family members met with an accident in the Eastern Province of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Hafar al-Batin, nearly 90 km from Kuwait border, while the Ullal based family was returning to Kuwait after performing Umrah.
The victim has been identified as Saad son of Zubair, an expat from Kerala, who had been working in Kuwait. He is survived by his Ullal based wife Fauzia and four children. Fouzia is the daughter of Moideen Kunhi of Ullal Fisheries.
Although Saad hailed from Kerala, he had many relatives and friends in Mangalore and Ullal. He had good contacts with Dakshina Kannada based NRIs in Kuwait.
Sources close to family said that Saad had been to KSA to perform Umrah along with his wife and four kids. After completing all the rituals the family was returning to Kuwait in a car and Saad himself was driving it when the accident took place.
It is learnt that the body has been kept at a hospital in the city of Hafar al-Batin. The cause of the fatal mishap is yet to be ascertained.
Sources in Hafar al-Batin said that expatriate workers from Dakshina Kannada were assisting in completing the formalities at the hospital.
