Around three dozens of JD(S) workers had taken part in the meet held at the party office in the city to pay their tributes to the mass leader, who had been a secular face of the party.
Speaking on the occasion, D K District Congress Minority Cell president Moindeen Bava said that Shetty was an ideal politician and true congress leader.
Mr Bava said that Shetty was a nightmare for communal forces of Dakshina Kannada district in general and Puttur in particular.
KPCC Secretary Ivan D'Souza said that the party workers should not forget the family members of Shetty, who had dedicated part of his life for Congress.
Mangalore Mayor Gulzar urged the Congress workers to follow the footsteps of Shetty and take forward his struggle to build a peaceful society.
Former Mayors Ashraf and Azeez, District Congress Secretary T K Sudhir, Denis D'Souza, B A Idinabba and Farooq Ullal were present among others.
Shetty had died on spot when his car met with an accident near Panemangalore on July 31.
