Speaking on the occasion Association president S P Changappa said that several members of Association had emerged as influential politicians in the region.
He said that prominent politicians of coastal Karnataka like former chief minister and union minster M Veerappa Moily, former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, former union minister B Janardhan Poojary, were the members of the Association.
Mr Changappa appealed Mr Bhandary to pressurise the government to earmark a fixed amount in the state budget for the welfare of the advocate community.
Responding to the felicitation Mr Bhandary, who had also served as the president of Mangalore Bar Association in the past, pledged to strive hard to fulfill all the demands of advocates.
Advising the advocates to keep aside the political difference in the professional issues, he said that all advocates should be united to fight for their rights.
Karnataka State Bar Council Vice President PP Hegde and members of the Assocation Raghavendra Rao, Ganesh Shenoy, Vittal Rai, Kallige Tharanath, B Ibrahim, Purushotham Poojary and Parameshwar were present among others on the occasion.
