Bangalore, August 19: Well-known Kannada journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu has been chosen for the “D Devaraj Urs Award” on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of the former chief minister.
A native of Mattu village in coastal Karnataka, Dinesh Amin is currently working as the Assistant Editor of 'Prajavani' Kannada daily.
The award, instituted by the State government, carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and citation. A?selection committee comprising litterateur Chandrashekar Kambar shortlisted the candidates for the award.
Other persons/ organisations who have been selected for the award in recognition of excellence in their respective fields are:? Vishwakarma Ratha Shilpa Kala Sangha, Bangalore; Sri Sharadha Vidya Samsthe, Chitradurga; Narasamma of Tumkur; Bhimarao B?Gasti and Kashinath B?Hudeda, Bagalkot; Vajra Kumar B?Kivade and Basavanappa M?Gounalli of Jewargi, Gulbarga district and Dhanbandu Samsthe, Chamarajnagar, Mysore district.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar will present the awards at a function in Banquet Hall, Vidhana Soudha at 11 am on August 20.
