Bangalore, August 23: A Rasthtriya Swayamsewak Sangh activists has filed a complaint against Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje with the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, on Wednesday accusing her of hiding assets and filing a false affidavit before contesting 2008 Assembly polls.
The complainant Hanume Gowda, has revealed that Dakshina Kannada based minister was a promoter and director of Bangalore-based Yellamma Minerals Pvt Ltd between 2007 and 2010.
However Ms Karandlaje did not disclose the information while filing an affidavit of assets and liabilities before the Election Commission of India, he alleged.
Claiming that he campaigned for Ms Karandlaje in the Yeshwanthpur Assembly constituency, Mr Gowda alleged that the minister had bought about 4,900 shares worth Rs 49,000 to become a director. The company was involved in molasses trading.
However, Mr Gowda said that he was yet to ascertain details like the annual turnover of the company, whether it was still operational or not. He has requested the ECI to initiate action against her under the Representation of People Act.
However the Yeddyurappa loyalist minister has denied the allegation, saying she had no connection with the company. “I have filed the same affidavit before the Karnataka Lokayukta also. I am ready to face any probe,” she stated.
