Online submission of internal marks to speed up result declaration: VC

Mangalore, August 31: The new initiative of online submission of internal assessment marks will facilitate faster declaration of results, Prof. T C Shivashankara Murthy, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University said.

Addressing media persons at Press Club in Mangalore on Friday, Mr. Murthy said that the University has already started conducting admissions online. Online submission of internal assessment marks is also a new initiative that has been taken which will speed up the examination results declaration process, he said.

The University has decided to equip all its lecturers with laptops, Mr. Murthy said, stating that along with the already distributed IP phones, the step would prove beneficial in research publications. The University is offering aid both in terms of money and infrastructure to students and teachers willing to pursue research, he said.

Science equipments worth Rs. 3 crore would be housed in the renovated old Kannada Department building which will serve as a unique centre for research in science, he added.


Inter-Collegiate Cultural Fest

The University will hold a three day Inter-Collegiate Cultural Fest for students studying in its affiliated and constituent colleges from September 3 to 5.

In the previous years, these competitions were being conducted in different colleges but this time the events would be hosted in the University campus itself, Mr. Murthy said. A total of 49 colleges are expected to participate. The inauaguration will be carried out by Chittani Ramachandra Heggade, Padma Shri Awardee Yakshagana Artist.

Mangaluru: Police have arrested five miscreants belonging to saffron outfits for pelting stones at a masjid at Katipalla near Surathkal on the outskirts of the city last night. 

The arrested have been identified as Bharat, Chennappa, Nitin, Manu and Sujit all residents of Surathkal and surrounding areas. Among them, Bharat is said to be a rowdy sheeter. 

The miscreants, who came on two motorbikes late on Sunday night, pelted stones at Masjidul Huda, located at 3rd block of Katipalla on the eve of Miladunnabi.  

Confirming the incident, City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that investigation is in progress and a case has been registered at Surathkal police station.
