Mangalore, September 12: The District Administration is organising marathon, sky diving and other events during the three-day World Tourism Day celebration starting on September 27.
The events were finalised during a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner N.S. Channappa Gowda here on Monday. Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Harish Kumar, Mangalore Urban Development Authority Commissioner Ajit Kumar Hegde and Panambur Tourism Development Project's Chief Executive Officer Yatish Baikampady participated in the meeting.
Mr. Gowda said Mr. Baikampady placed the proposal of organising a sky diving event on Panambur beach.The event will be conducted by a New Delhi-based firm using Cesna aircraft provided by a Madhya Pradesh-based aviation academy.The firm will take people on a city ride in the aircraft. The organiser has already taken permission of the Director General of Civil Aviation to use Mangalore Airport. “This firm has organised such events in Madhya Pradesh. It has also planned similar show in Mysore. We were told that this event will attract many tourists.” On the marathon, Mr. Gowda said, “We are yet to chalk out the distance and different segments of the marathon.”
