Mangalore, September 14: Manish Karbekar has been transferred to Mangalore and would replace Seemant Kumar Singh as the city police Commissioner, it is learnt.
Pratap Reddy, IGP, Western Range, said that he has information that Mr. Karbekar who is currently DIG (civil rights enforcement), Bangalore, has been transferred. But no written communication has been received yet, he said.
It is said that Mr. Singh's transfer was passed when he had left for Hyderabad for training. He had taken off his nameplate in the office while setting off to Hyderabad. He had therefore been informed of his transfer even before he left for training.
Mr. Singh, who reportedly aspired to work with the CBI, was constantly paying visits to Bangalore. When the homestay attack took place in Mangalore, he been to Bangalore with regard to his transfer work. But immediate transfer post-attacks was not advisable and hence the transfer was withheld by the Department for a while.
But now, it is learnt that Mr. Singh will obtain his transfer orders from the place of his training itself.
