Bhatkal, September 16: A six inch long dead snake was allegedly found in a 200 ml tetra pack of Maa mango fruit juice pack for the second time in little more than a month in Bhatkal on Sunday.
A school boy who consumed the juice was admitted to the hospital after he felt uneasy.
According to local sources, Abdul Mannan, a 12-year-old student of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, had bought the tetra pack of the juice for consumption from the canteen of same institution.
When the boy was drinking the juice using a straw, he felt some problem in sipping the juice. When he continued sipping forcefully a small dead snake emerged out of the hole.
The shocked student screamed and started vomiting. He was immediately rushed to Bhatkal government hospital.
Bhatkal town police rushed to the spot and seized the snake-filled tetra pack. Police also asked all the soft drink sellers not to sell any tetra pack of 'Maa' bearing manufacturing date of May 13, 2012 and batch number B390.
Residents of Bhatkal have expressed shock over the incident.
It could be recalled here that a mother and her daughter were hospitalized after drinking juice from a snake-filled tetra pack of 'Maa' on June 6.
Meanwhile, CavinKare, which manufactures and markets Maa mango juice product, alleged the incident might be the handiwork of miscreants.
