Mangalore, September 17: Members of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a protest in front of A B Shetty Circle in Mangalore on Monday demanding action against doctors for their negligence which led to the death of Deepika, II PUC student from Kotekar.
Speaking on the occasion Ramesh, State Secretary, ABVP, said that the family members of the girl have already alleged that doctors have shown negligence in handling Ms. Deepika's case. “There was a reaction after she was given an injection. The doctors are to be blamed. The girl's family deserves justice and action should be taken against the culprits”, he said.
The organization demanded that a proper probe be carried out into the issue and the family of Ms. Deepika be given compensation, besides cancelling the license of the hospital in question.
Ms. Deepika was a II PUC Commerce student studying at St Ann's College, Mangalore. She died early in the morning on Sunday at JS Hospital, Kotekar, after she was admitted there on Friday following complaints of severe vomiting.
