Mangalore, September 19: 'Vishwaroopi Gajanana', an exhibition of Ganesha idols from the collection M Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva's Education Foundation, was inaugurated at at Venkappa Poonja Auditorium here on September 18.
The exhibition was organized under the aegis of Siddhi Vinayaka Prathishtana.
More than 1,000 varieties of Ganesha idols of various types, makes, cololurs and poses were at the display.
Idols of Ganesha playing musical instruments like veena, violin, tabla and harmonium grabbed the attention of visitors. Meanwhile, dozens of other Ganeshas in various poses made of different materials too provided visual treat to devotees.
Odiyoor Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji inaugurated the exhibition. He said Gauri and Ganesha's mother-son relationship is very significant. Every mother would brought up her children in such a way that he could become leader in the society.
Maladi Ajith Kumar Rai, Monappa Bhandary, Dr Mohan Alva and Navaneet Shetty were present. Students from various schools participated in a drawing competition on Ganesha, organized as part of the exhibition.
