Mangalore, September 19: Ganesh, the elephant-headed idol arrived in the homes of his devotees in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi amid traditional fervour, pomp and gaiety.
The Ganesh festival began from Wednesday with the "pratisthanpana" (installation) of the Ganpati idols in Sarvajanik pandals and households.
Taluk Bunts Sangha Mangalore and Buntara Yane Nadavara Mathru Sangha Mangalore in association with various other social organizations organised a grand Ganeshshotsava at Omkar Nagar, Bunts Hostel Grounds, Mangalore.
The giant Ganesh installed at Bunts Hostel was perhaps the most colourful in the city. The Idol not only inspired the devotees but also filled the heart and mind with its sheer grandeur.
As a part of the festival the Bunts community has organised various entertainment programmes.
