Mangalore, September 29: The DK district Yuva Janata Dal along with JD(S) Women's Wing held a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office in Mangalore on Saturday against central government's decision to reduce number of gas cylinders to six per year.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishnappa Poojary, District President, Yuva Janata Dal, said that the Congress of today is no longer the Congress of Gandhiji. Citizens have realized that the UPA government's policies are anti-people and they will give an apt response in the elections. Leaders who made merry by meting out injustice to the people are now languishing in jails. Imposing burden on the people will only hurt the policy makers, he said.
K Srinath Rai, Secretary, DK district Yuva Janata Dal, said that both the BJP led state government as well as the UPA government at the centre have made life difficult for the common man. The decision of the government to reduce the number of cylinders for the common man has burdened the people. The diesel price hike is also resulting in increase of prices for other commodities, he said.
Members of the JD(S) Women's Wing also cried foul on the government's policies on the occasion. A gas cylinder can last only 23 days and hence the central government needs to explain if people must resort to fasting for 15 days every month, they said. The government must first need to check gas cylinders being supplied to hotels and other establishments in black instead of burdening common people, the demanded.
