Mangalore, October 2: A group of visitors from Bangalore who had come to spend time at the Panambur beach misbehaved and manhandled the beach staff, alleged Yatish Baikampady, CEO, Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project.
Speaking to Coastaldigest.com, Mr. Baikampady said that a group of visitors from Bangalore, one of them claiming to be an associate of Pejawar Mutt pontiff Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji, misbehaved and manhandled the beach staff this morning.
“More than 10 of them came to the beach this morning in a Tempo Trax and dragged our rescue boat to enter the waters. When our staff stopped them and warned them about the sea being rough today, they misbehaved with them and manhandled them”, he said.
He said that the act of miscreants was witnessed by the public, who thrashed them in return. “When I was told about the incident, I informed the police but by the time we came to the spot they had vanished from there. These visitors got themselves admitted in a hospital and later filed an FIR with the police complaining on assault on them. Our staff were also summoned to the police station but the assault was carried out by public. One of the visitors said he was an associate of Pejawar Swamiji”, he said.
Stating that the beach staff never assaulted the visitors, Mr. Baikampady said that the police can verify it with the CCTV camera footages.
