Kasargod, October 3: People from various walks of life on Tuesday paid homage to senior Congress leader N. Ramakrishnan, who passed away at a hospital in Mangalore on Monday, when his body was brought here en route to his native place in Kannur.
Accompanied by an array of senior party leaders, including K. Sudhakaran, MP, the procession carrying the body reached here in the afternoon.
The body was placed at the District Congress Committee office at Vidyanagar for the public to pay homage.
DCC president K. Veluthambu wrapped the body with the party flag. Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran, former Ministers K.P. Nooruddin, C.T. Ahemadali, and Cherkalam Abdulla, MLAs N.A. Nellikunnu and P.B. Abdul Razak, KPCC secretary Sathishan Pacheni, Kasaragod municipal chairman T.E. Abdulla, and senior Congress leaders from the district C.K. Sreedharan and K.P. Kunhikannan were present. Collector P.S. Mohammed Sagir and Superintendent of Police S. Surendran placed wreaths on the body.
Earlier, the body was kept at Hosangadi near Manjeswaram.
